The Internal conflict in Bangladesh is an ongoing small-scale guerrilla campaign, conducted by a number of Islamist and Leftist extremist factions.
==Islamist insurgency==
The first Bangladeshi Islamist militant factions emerged in 1989, a network of 30 factions was established in the following years. The main goal of those organisation was the creation of a separate Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. The Islamists pursued to conduct a number of terrorist acts both against the representatives of state and left wing extremist groups.
